Because of this trend, Google has launched ‘Google Places’ and shows these results as per the picture on the left when a search is conducted using a Geo Identifier. The top 7 results are shown at the top of the page with a prominent listing, alongside a map – which are referred to as the 7Pack.
Given such a prominent position, this is prime local marketing space and these places are sought after by local businesses as they are a guaranteed way to bring new customers.
